Hello everyone!
I'm writing this now from an internet cafe in San Antonio, Texas; having just gotten my first Town Pass upon graduating from Basic (as well as enjoying my first cup of coffee in two months!)! At first, it felt like it was going to be a tremendously long 2 months here, but now I've got that feeling of "Oh holy crap it's almost over already?!"

It was a very challenging journey to go through (especially when one takes into consideration the recent toughening of standards for the USAF training, in order to get our Enlisted more up to par physically and emotionally with those of the other branches of the service...

) , but was all worthwhile in the end. I've made a lot of good friends here whom I will definitely keep in contact with over the years, and as well I will recount some of the more interesting things that happened in BMT once I have more time to do so.
I've obviously not had any opportunities to draw anything in a while

, however, once I get things rolling in Tech School I should be able to get back on track with all of that.

And on the subject of Tech School, I'm still going to Monterey to be trained as a Linguist; however, the language I will be trained in shall be Russian instead of Japanese... the reason being that Japanese is no longer available for Enlisted (since it serves them little good to spend money training someone in such a low level of authority to be a translator for the language of an absolutely friendly nation... not that we've had any problems with Russia in 20 years or so, anyway... but, whatever.). But, I've also been interested in learning Russian for a long time as well, so it all works out in the end. And the great news is that the forward "deployment" (if it could even be called that, since there are no open hostilities whatsoever) bases that I would be sent to for the language assigned to me are in Germany and Japan, both of which I've been wanting to go to for as long as I can remember.
So, I'll definitely get many opportunities to travel the world and see new things, which is exactly why I joined the Air Force to begin with. So, from the mindset I had in the first two weeks of training, of "Shit, what am I doing here?!" to my current thoughts of "I somehow made it this far; now I've just got to keep pushing forward;" I've definitely become a much more optimistic and confident person for coming here.

Everything after Basic will feel like a breeze. ^_^

Now I've been spending my Town Pass time seeing the sights in San Antonio; I almost want to eventually see if I can come back as an MTI just so I can live in this area!

It's great to be able to talk to and hear from everyone again, as well. I'm surprised at how much of the ability to freely and quickly communicate I took for granted before I signed on!
